Reasons 1-5:
Wow. So you could say Santa Monica is paradise! Last Monday, I rode my roommate's bike to the Pier, on the pier! I didn't even know that was legal. It was a sunny, 75 degree weather day, and I rode down Broadway, smiling at people in my shorts, short sleeved shirt, and sandals. All of that on the 5th of February. Everyone is so nice, and the street is so cute! I rode all the way to the Pier, sat on a bench looking out at the ferris wheel and ocean, and pulled out a nice can of A&W.
Reason 6: Shopping- but who cares cause i'm poor
Dear H&M, Forever 21, Charolette Russe, and Pink Berry,
It has always been my dream to practically be next door neighbors with you, especially after living in Rexburg, Idaho where they don't believe in shopping. I am so glad we'll be spending plenty of window shopping time together. And to some new favorites, Cotton CO, Love Culture, and Anthropology, It has been a pleasure getting to know you, and I am excited for our future relationship!
Reason 7: FOOD
Dear Boys in my ward,
I'm not interested in dating, but if you feel like taking a girl out to eat, i'm pretty cool. I love Thai, Itialian (gelato!), Mexican, Chinese, Greek, Pink Berry, and pretty much everything i've seen in LA!
Reason 8: Hot Foreign Men
Today some hot guy with a nice accent and sexy eyebrows (yes i know, but i really love good eyebrows) straightened my hair today at the outdoor mall (which by the way has a bloomingdales and nordstrom, i'm surrounded by wealthy suckers) anyway, he was selling straightners and wanted me to buy one, so of course he was being flirty. But then he gave me his number, which i pretended to save, but come on, do i look like i want to be raped? Especially on Valentine's day? no.
Reason 9: Cool People
I have THE BEST roommates in the world!!!!
The Santa Monica 3rd Ward has got to be the best thing. There are so many awesome people with cool jobs! Some occupations: Artist for the Simpsons, Dancing With The Stars dancer, TV Show editor, and the list goes on and on!! Also, the activites are way fun, like last monday we made floats. Rootbeer and real ones. They're great
CAPER
Talk about being in the right place at the right freaking time!! So, Caper is a Paul Mitchell event for students who sell a 45 bags or product in a certain amount of time. ( i sold enough bags before I graduated so I got to go) You get to go to Vegas and learn from the best of the best and take classes. These stylists are like celebrities to us, (and a few of them do celebrity hair). Anyway, so there is this thing called Opening session where Paul Mitchell brings in all of the top stylists who we love, motivational speakers, there is a cool hair show, etc. I went last year and got in line early and got an amazing seat. So this year I wanted to do the same thing. I couldn't remember what time we lined up last year (opening session starts at noon) so I got there at 7am. Just minutes after I begin waiting in line (no one else was there waiting yet) Takashi, one of the top stylists walked by!
And then George Morales!
So I was pretty dang excited about that, when a few minutes later this girl comes walking out of the VIP area where the stylists were getting models ready for the show. (its impossible to get back there) She comes up to me and asked if I was a Future Professional (aka Paul Mitchell student) I said yes, and she then asked if I would be a model for Scott Cole (one of the stylists!!) His model hadn't shown up, and they were looking for someone with short blond hair. I love Scott Cole, and met him at the Signature Gathering in July, so of course I said yes! I automatically went from waiting in line for this huge show, waiting to see all my mentors on stage, to being in the same room and on stage with them for a few hours! I walk back and Scott comes up to me and was soo nice
Then all the sudden Doug Christensen is washing and blowdrying my hair
And I'm surrounded my all of my mentors!
Than Angus was walking around with his shirt off, but I didn't capture that photo. Basically this was all amazing, and I got to go do rehersals with all of the real models, and hangout with the famous Emma Long
Sadly, Scott's model showed up, but I still had a ton fun, and got my spot back in line. This was great because Donny and Marie came and performed, Fran Dresher came and talked, Betty White did a special video for us, Kathy Buckly came and spoke, and many more amazing people:)
I got a message after opening session, asking if I would be Scott and Linda's model the next day for classes!! And I said yes, of course:)
But first, the White Party. Here are some of my favorites with mentors/friends
This is Brent Wedin from the Angus M salon in Beverly Hills. He cut my hair in August when I went and shadowed at the salon
Mr. Angus Mitchell <3
LaDonna!! She calls me Mrs. Jonas lol
Call time was 5am, and the day was soo much fun!!! Not to mention I got to keep all of the product used for the models (including color, pm shines, color shots, develolper clear, cream, every level, shampoos, and hair product!!! Moral of the story, be early, be at the right place at the right time, be a visionary.
Good News:
My neighbor is in my ward, graduated from Paul Mitchell in Salt Lake, and is my age (everyone here is 25 and older, which isn't bad, but its nice to have someone your age)
Scottie and I went to see Never Say Never and it was awesome
Stay tuned, as soon as I figure out how to post vidoes, I have a treat for you!!
