EXTRA EXTRA! I SAW NICK JONAS!!

And the day has FINALLY arrived!!
After being in Los Angeles for 4 months now, I have seen Nick!!

But First, My hair disaster story!!!

So it has been about an month and a half since I had Abby do my hair, so the grow-out was pretty out of control. I was more then ready for Abby to re-touch my hair, which wasn't completely all the way blond, it had blond highlights. Abby wasn't in the mood to do the re-touch when I was, so I was impatient, and an idot, and decided to do it myself. After doing some of the front, I realized this had already become a huge disaster, and had to call Abby over to finish it before she had to go to work, leaving the finished product trashy platinum blond...

After it was rinsed out and dryed, sent this to Abby (she was at work by now) to show her what we had done.

Here's the BETTER story:

On Sunday afternoon, I was on facebook and noticed that Nick Jonas posted that he'd be at The Grove (a popular shopping center in LA) being interviewed on the E! network show, Extra at 2pm Monday!! I was scheduled to work from 1-7 on Monday! What the heck! I began texting everyone I could from work, asking them to cover part of my shift, and offering $20. I literally contacted 10 people and no one could/would do it. I was so bummed, Sunday was almost over, and the next day, I was going to miss my chance to see my favorite celebrity of all time. Close to midnight, I texted one girl from work (who earlier told me she couldn't cover my shift because she had something to do at 3) and offered her $40 to cover my shift from 1-3, then i fell asleep, heartbroken. Monday morning, about an hour after I woke up she texted back saying she'd cover for me!!! You could imagine my excitment!!!!!!! I got ready really fast, super bummed that my hair was ugly platinum, and put on an oversized white shirt with a brown skinny belt, my cutest jeans (that makes my butt look awesome by the way) and awesome shoes. I was on my way by 9:30.

I got to the grove a little before 10, I decieded to get there early to quickly shop for something cute to wear, when unfortunatley I saw a few Nick Jonas fans lining up at the Extra stage. I joined them. Shortly after, a blond lady who works for the show asked if anyone loved the Bachelorette.
LUCKILY for me, just 2 days earlier after reading an article in PEOPLE magazing about the show, i decided to watch the first 3 episodes on Hulu, so I knew everything about the season!
 I raised my hand quickly and the lady pulled me to the front asking me if I thought Bentley should go on a spin-off show called the Bachelor Pad. She liked my response. When Mario Lopez (the host of Extra) came out, the lady had me join him and he asked me the same question on camera. He was super nice to me, and not so nice to the director. He had a little attitude.

After he asked me the question I talked to the director and asked if I could ask Nick Jonas a question during the interview, and he told me I could!! I was going to meet Nick Jonas!!!
Nick wasn't coming for about 3 more hours, so in the meantime we watched as Mario filmed for Extra. Basically it was him on a small platform with me and a bunch of other girls (who were also there to see Nick) behind him. It was fun watching him do different takes. In one take he would say
"Hello New York! Tonight on Extra....
Hello Texas! Tonight, on Extra...
"West Coast! Tonight on Extra.."
and so on, then he'd do ones like

"here's Adam"
"Here's Michelle"
"here's .. and it would be another host, he just repeats the same things with another name. Thats what you see on the show before it goes to a clip, or another person talking. While we were there, he changed shirts like 3 times, because they were filming clips of him telling bits of "breaking news" for a few different shows.

My 15 seconds of fame aired last night on Extra, but I will be in several other clips on the show for the next couple of weeks standing behind him!

When Nick Jonas finally showed up, girls went crazy of course, and I was pushed into the second row, but was still only about 4ft from him during his interview.

 He looked amazing, 10,000,000 times better in person!!!  All of the sudden girls who were in a small line near the cameras started going up and asking him their questions. That's when I realized I was in the wrong place!! I tried to get out of the crowd (which was almost impossible because crazy fans were cramming together trying to get closer) by the time I got out of the crowd and got someone's attention on the set, they told me the question/aswer segment was over :( and wouldn't let me ask my question (which would have been "can i do your hair") i was soooo bummed!! And I was already running late to get to work to finish my shift that was being partially covered. I was sooo happy I got to be there for a little bit during his interview though, dream come true!! Oh, and did I mention that he touched my hand when he reached out into the crowd?

So Many Good Things, So Little Time

HOLY COW!! The past 2 weeks have been amazing!! Let's start with my family coming into town!!

For Mother's Day, my mom came into town so we could go to the Ellen show, but sadly our standby tickets didn't get us in, so we have gauranteed tickets for next season!! Luckily, we got to go the X Factor, which is Simon Cowell's new show. That was amazing. I love Simon Cowell now!! The taping was about 5 hours long, but we got to watch about 15 auditions. It was interesting to see how they really go. Most performers sing more then one song. The judges like to hear their voice with and without music. It airs im September, watch for it!

Jennifer, Deven, and Porter came to Cali too! We spent Mother's day at my great Aunts house in Laguna Beach. We had brunch with my 100.5 year old grandma, and my great cousin, so much fun:)

So cute. She was reading to him, and he was loving it. 99 years apart, don't see that everyday

So one of the perks of working in a super rich area, is that your client's social events include celebrities, and amazing bands, such as WEEZER!!!! The difference between Pre-School benefits in the Palisades and ones in Washington, is 1: You're not trying to raise $12,000 for a scholarship for 1 child to attend your pre-school, and 2: River from Weezer isn't the Dad of one of the pre-schoolers! My guest was telling me about this pre-school event she was in charge of and told me about Weezer and invited me to come!!!! So I brought Abby, and we were right at the stage the whole time, listening to amazing hits, then got to meet them afterwards!!!

 If this wasn't cool enough, I got to cross off one of the guys from my "Hollywood Guys I HAVE To Meet While I Live Here" list. Drum roll please... Mr. MARK BALLAS!! He's my favorite dancer from Dancing With The Stars



Mark performed at The Mint in LA on Monday night. A girl, Kylee, from my ward was also performing, so a ton of people from church went to support her, and she was great! Mark was amazing too! He has such a good voice!! I was suprised. Although, I was very disappointed in his songs and language. A little to dirty for me, but it was still an awesome show. Afterwards I got to meet him again (i got to say hi before the show) and get a picture with him. And can you guess where he put his hand for our picture? Yes, he slowly placed it from my lower back to my butt. naughty naughty. The day before the show, I was planning out what was going to happen when i met him the next day, and I thought, My hair is similar to his dancing partern's, Chelsea Kane, so when he see's me, he'll point that out and offer to introduce me to her! She was on the show JONAS, so when i meet her i'll tell her about my dream to do Nick's hair, and she'll hook it up! Sadly, she wasn't there, but I did have several people come up to me afterwards telling me they thought I was her! Plan almost worked.



 Mark if you were a foot taller and didn't have such a dirty mouth, we could be married right now.

PS. did anyone see Soul Surfer?? Besides the poor acting and the obvious  low budget quality of the film, i loved it! Did anyone notice a certain Peter Pan in the movie? Jeremy Sumpter made a few appearances!! Once, a hearthrop, now, guy with a lisp and voice that has yet to change. sad days. Still love you in Peter Pan though;)





WORK!

So much is going on right now!!
Lets start with my new job!! I work at the Drybar, which is a style salon where we do blowouts only, so no cuts or colors. Its located in a super rich area, so tips are amazing$$! The other day I washed Tobey Maguire's wife's hair!

Other regulars include Zooey Deschanel and Stephanie Pratt. The other day Matt Damon's wife came in too!

Another reason why this job is number 1, is because I get to work with the one and only, Abigail, my California BFF. Its awesome

Last week I got to work on a film called "the Sifters" doing hair and make-up

After the movie wrapped, I had a photoshoot!! Lindsey Boice was the photographer, and was sooo amazing!! Bekka Gunther was the model, and was so funny, and great at what she does. Her shots were all stunning!!! Make-up was by Roxy Davis and Wardrobe by Nillie Di Grakovac

I can't wait to get the shots back!

Porter Scott Munns/Porter Squish



Mothers, Fathers, Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents: I can see where you may be getting confused right now. Up until now, you've thought your little baby was the cutest thing ever, until you laid eyes on Porter. Its okay, Porter is the cutest, so don't feel ashamed.

Porter is my nephew, and I haven't seen him in 2 months! Today at work he is all I could think about!! AH! I would rather see him than do anything else! So whoever wants to buy me that plane ticket..:)

Moving on, also today, my dream job ALMOST came true!!!! So when I worked at Sundance, I met this amazing makeup artist/hairstylist, Maika Taylor who is very successful and had worked on several films, including Wedding Crashers, and all 3 High School Musicals!! That's right, she works for the Disney Channel, aka my dream job! So, today when I got done working, I see I got a text from her:

"It's times like this im sad ur in cali. I was just informed we need some extra help on this Disney show tomorrow:("

 WHAT THE HECK!!! So the show is called "Good Luck Charlie" and its on the Disney Channel. I told her i would drive there tonight, not a big deal considering thats the whole reason I even moved to Cali (looks like i'm in the wrong state). She was thrilled, but because they were filming at an airport (Gateway in SLC) security needed everyone's info prior to the shooting. Unfortunatley, they needed everyone's info 2 hours before I talked to Maika, so I couldn't go:( But, I am FIRST on the list for the next time they need a stylist, which means my dream job may be coming faster than I thought!!

Note: The main girl on Good Luck Charlie was on the first episode of JONAS playing Nick's love interest..which means they may be friends, which means if i ever do her hair...:)

So that was pretty exciting for me today!!

My family was/is in town this week!! Yesterday we went to the Santa Monica Pier, and the show "Castle" was being filmed! (its ok if you don't know what that is, neither do I). Its always fun to watch filming.

Basically a guy runs and jumps off the Pier into the sand.

When we were leaving I ended up asking one of the crewmembers where Hair and Makeup was, and they pointed me towards Edward (not Cullen). After talking to Edward, he invited me to come watch on-set sometime so I can see the process of how things work for television!! Since i'm not in the Union, all I can do it watch, but its still so exciting!!

Earlier that day, I got a real bed!! Since I've moved here, i've slept on the love sac, floor, and small matress type thing, so I haven't felt completely at home quite yet.. until my parent and I took a nice trip to ikea!!

This picture isn't that great, but basically I have a cute huge rug (only $20 bucks at IKEA!) A real bedframe!, New sheets and comforter cover, and super cute curtains!!! much better!

My friend Scottie (who you've seen in earlier blog posts) is in love with Selena Gomez. So, naturally when he hears about camping out for Selena tickets, he does it! After he got the VIP tickets, he invited me to go with him! It was a small concert for the Microsoft store opening in Costa Mesa. Scottie made a poster that said "I won't tell Justin" referring to her boyfriend, Justin Bieber. His friend Ridge made a poster that said "I won't kiss & tell" referring to her album "Kiss and Tell"

We didn't get there that early so we weren't too close to the stage. Luckily for Scottie though, Selena is a Disney Channel Star, which means most of her fans are little girls. Scottie being the 6'6 guy that he is, stood out, especially with his sign

When Selena came out, she saw the boys and their posters and smiled at them! That was super exciting, but it got better when later she made a comment about the "colorful posters" as she laughed. (obviously referring to Scottie and Ridge's) But, it got even BETTER when she read them out loud!! They were sooo excited when she publically aknowledged them!!

Selena did a great concert, and was so sweet, and the boys were swept away. She had a meet and greet after the show, but we didn't have tickets. Knowing that Selena thought their posters were awesome, we went to the Microsoft store, where the meet and greet was to be held, and tried to wait outside, just incase she would let them come in. Everyone else had the same idea,and a huge crowd formed and mall security made us leave. We went out at random door that took us to the outside door to the Microsoft store! When we saw fans, and extra security waiting outside, we knew she was going to come that way.

When we got to the hallway, Selena was like "I need to show Justin"!!! And had her people take pics with her phone. She thought they were so funny!!

SO basically Justin Bieber has seen Scottie's face!! And no, I didn't get a picture with her because I didn't even think of it! I was so excited for them to meet her!

 Earlier last week my friends Brittany, Melissa, and Rachel came in town for 4 days for Spring Break!!! We went to Disneyland, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and the Pier!!

The weekend before that, I was able to helpout some friends I met at Sundance with a showing of their film Discover the Gift! I was in charge of checking in the VIP guests, and look who I got to escourt in!!

Keeping Up With.. My Life;)

What a day!!
Let's start with the bus.
So lately (today and last Saturday) I have been taking the bus to and from work, because i'm getting my car fixed. But, I actually like it better because I save on gas (which is over 4 bucks a gallon!!) and parking!Luckily for me, I only have to take one bus and it goes straight to Beverly Hills. I don't particularly like taking the bus in the morning because for some reason, thats when the creepers and homeless guys take it. (idk how or why the homeless guys take it, but they do!) In the evening however, its fun to people watch, and the people are normalish.. actually more funny looking/acting. Anyway, watching them is great.
So, today:
I get to the bus, with my $1.50 in hand ready to pay, when the bus driver tells me the money machine is broken and my ride is free! Sweet, I saved a dollar fifty!

Early Afternoon:
I went next door to the Coupa Cafe' to grab a cup of coffee for a client, and guess what "Reality" show they were filming! .... The Real Houswives of Beverly Hills! I walked through the shot, so hopefully this September you'll see my butt on national TV!  This girl.. i think her name is Taylor? or thats her last name? idk, she was there with 2 other girls

I think she looks like that girl that just won on the Bachelor. It was funny watching them stop the scene and having the director or whoever come over and tell them what to say! She told one girl to ask/bring up her finances and say "did you know your finances would be like this, this year?" or something like that. SO funny! So much for reality.

Lunch Time:
My guilty pleasure lately has been watching Keep Up With The Kardashians on Netflix. I LOVE it! And, Mason (Kourtney Kardashians baby) is my favorite celebrity baby right now. So, that made it really exciting when I stepped out of the salon today, to see paparazzi next door taking picture of Kortney and Mason inside and little shoe botique!! Mason is the CUTEST baby ever!! Then they came outside and she walked right past me, (she's tiny!) Here's the pic I got on my phone, I was pretty excited!

After Lunch:
I checked my e-mail real fast before I got back to work, and got a nice little message from EFY, telling me they decided to hire me to be a counselor this summer!!! EFY (Especially For Youth) is a program for youth during the summer. Its a camp that builds your testimony of Christ,and relationship with God! Its amazing, and so much fun!! My role will be to look after a group of 8-10 girls ages 14-15 or 16-18, do devotionals with them every morning and night, get them where they need to be, help them destroy at games night, and make sure they have the best time ever. I went 4 years, and had the most amazing experiences!! I'd put EFY right up there with Jonas Brothers concerts. Maybe even higher? idk.. Its been one of my dream jobs since my first year, so I can't wait!!
I will be doing a few sessions in Tacoma, WA, and possibly BYU-I and in California!!!! I'll let you know the set sessions when I find out!

Thursday and Friday I get to meet up and work with some friends I met at Sundance, and help promote their film Discover The Gift.
